History

Section of Cardiovascular and Renal Research (former Biochemical Laboratory) was founded in 1970. The initial research activities were supervised by Jens Olai Alvsaker, Per Teisberg, Ingvar Aakesson, Ivar Eide and Erik Enger.

The first director was professor Erik Enger MD, PhD, followed by professor Ivar Eide MD, PhD, Aud Høieggen MD, PhD and Morten Rostrup MD, PhD.

Since 1980, several PhD theses (see list) have been based on work carried out at the CVR.
